Experience from the rehabilitation of the underground defense system of the Main Fortress Terezín

After the floods in 2002, as part of the damage caused to the Terezín Main Fortress, the provision of an underground system under built-up areas, civic amenities, and main roads had to be addressed as a matter of priority. This resulted in the creation of basic technology that stabilized the underground corridors. It was only after the flood in 2013, however, that a complete survey of the western and northern sections was undertaken and project documentation for its overall stabilization was created. The article presents basic experience with the realization of the overall stabilization of the underground mine tunnels and the fortification walls of the external defense system of the Main Fortress carried out in 2016-2017 with emphasis on a summary of the work performed and its evaluation from the point of view of heritage care.
