Historic reconstruction of reinforced ropes

Zdeněk Bažant, Ladislav Klusáček

The use of ropes in construction is understood as integrating them into the original structural system by using compressive stress in one or more directions, while essentially securing a favorable distribution of stress in the structure. The decisive factor is always the determination of the degree of the necessary pressure forces as well as the amount and location of the ropes, strands, or steel bars in the construction. A well designed and executed reconstruction using ropes is favorable and sensitive to the structure, and the activation of the repair is almost instantaneous.
