Mining complexes around Zaječov, ironworks in Strašnice, and the lower smelter complex in Dobřív
The article addresses industrial complexes, technical monuments, and buildings associated with the Strousberg Railway in the Podbrdy area. This railway was built in 1872 by the Prussian entrepreneur Bethel Henry Strousberg (1823-1884). At the time, the Zbiroh area was supposed to become the "Manchester of Bohemia", or one of the most industrialized areas of Bohemia. Strousberg's plans were halted in 1885 by his own bankruptcy. He left a number of both finished and unfinished projects behind him. Archival and field research of these projects forms the core of this article, which more closely examines the results of research of the vast undermined area around the village of Zaječov, the complex of ironworks in the village of Strašice, and the Dolejší huť set of buildings in the village of Dobřív.
