Industrial complexes, technical monuments, and structures related to the Strousberg railway in the Podbrdy area

David Tuma

In 1868, the Zbiroh, Osek, and Mirošov estates were purchased by the Prussian entrepreneur Bethel Henry Strousberg (1823-1884), who decided to turn the town of Zbiroh into an industrial center. This article aims to provide an overview of the industrial heritage and the related buildings in the estates purchased by Strousberg. The first part of the article goes into detail on the construction of Strousberg's railway, which was to link industrial areas in the settlement of Františkov near the town of Zbiroh and Borek near the village of Kařez.
