Protection and care of the historic cultural landscape in the Czech Republic through an institute of landscape heritage zones (SWOT analysis)

This article presents basic information on the results of the SWOT analysis of the system of protection and care of the historic cultural landscape, carried out on the base of the NAKI research project "Protection and care of the historic cultural landscape through an institute of landscape conservation areas". The analysis is divided into six basic areas based on the thesis of the European Landscape Convention. The areas cover: increasing awareness of the value of the historic cultural landscape and their changes; education and training; demarcation of landscape conservation areas (LCA) and their types, processing their characteristics and monitoring their development; evaluating LCA with regard to the values placed on them by the professional and lay public; defining target characteristics with the participation of the professional and lay public. The last area of analysis, dealing with instrumental equipment for the implementation of protection and care for the historic cultural landscape, is divided into six sub-areas: legislation and regulatory environment; research and methodology; planning systems; economic environment and subsidy policies; organizational tools; and cross-border and international cooperation.
