Aristocratic gardens represented on Jewish settlement plans and in fideicommissum files

The study deals with the identification of garden art depicted on the plans of Jewish settlements from the years 1727-1728 and its content, which can be found in fideicommissum files. The results of basic research of two seemingly disparate research activities. On the one hand stands research devoted to the aforementioned plans, while on the other hand are the used results of the archival research of the content page of the fideicommissum file collection. In addition to their original mission, the plans have a much broader meaning. They bring new knowledge about extinct landscape interventions and changes preserved today only in relics. The content of the garden art displayed on the plans is supplemented by information obtained from the fideicommissum files. Thanks to comparisons with indication sketches and subsequently with current aerial photographs, they document interesting changes in the Czech landscape. In this respect, the mentioned plans are the only witnesses to the appearance of the aristocratic residence and its immediate surroundings before the situation was captured within the indication sketches.
