A devoted official of his prince - architect Jan Sedláček (1848-1916)

The article is devoted to the Schwarzenberg architect Jan Sedláček (1848-1916) who, along with other personalities working for the Schwarzenbergs, is responsible for the specific appearance of the South Bohemian landscape. He was responsible for the reconstruction of churches in Hosín, Netolice, Bavorov, and many others, as well as for municipal buildings in Třeboň, Chýnov and Protivín. Towards the end of his service and especially after retiring, he worked with the Schwarzenberg archivist František Mareš on creating a list of heritage properties in the South Bohemian region. The article also uses studied written sources to map his views and attitudes to the care of heritage properties and to the emerging field of art history.
