"Honoring the inviolability of the old works" - on the beginnings of the controversy between the restoration and conservation of heritage properties in Bohemia around the middle of the 19th century

The Czech article "Preserving antique heritage properties, especially architectural heritage properties", which was transferred from the French milieu to the Czech environment around the middle of the 19th century, addressed the issue of respect for the originality of a work. Through the requirement of preservation, which also shows the practical limits of the justified protection of heritage properties, it confronts the work of František Schmoranz Sr. as a preservationist in the Chrudim region with the fundamental question of whether to restore or preserve heritage properties.
