The study is focused on a detailed technological research and description of the painting technique of the painting "Allegory of Painting" from the property of the National Gallery in Prague (NGP), created by the important Central European Baroque painter Jan Kupecký. Using the latest available research methods used in the restoration of works of art, the individual components of the work, such as the image ground layer, the base, and the paint layers are analyzed and described. The research deals with issues related to the "Allegory of Painting" regarding the time of its origin and significant authorial changes based on a comparison of painting techniques with five other Kupecký's works from a defined period from NGP collections and the alleged counterpart painting "Allegory of Sculpture" by Petr Brandl.
