Genealogy research on the Wallensteins from the mobiliary fund of Kozel Castle
The mobiliary fund of the Kozel State Castle contains an original of an extensive handwritten pedigree of the Wallensteins - the last owners of the Kozel hunting castle and the Šťáhlavy estates until their confiscation in 1945. The artifact from the second half of the 19th century is probably a transcription and partially a synthesis of older pedigrees and genealogies of the Wallensteins, containing even additions from the early 20th century. The institutional research task of NHI, "Research of the pictorial pedigree of the Wallensteins from the mobiliary fund of Kozel Castle and its presentation through an interactive computer model with links to genealogical, pictorial, biographical, and other metadata" has focused on evaluating this artifact from a historical perspective by finding sources and verifying the relevance of the information contained herein. At the same time, a software environment has been created within this given task of an interactive computer model of the pedigree that works with the digitalization of the artifact. The software enables effective work with the artifact either as a whole or in sections of defined layers that can be conveniently connected to the sum of added information. For the time being, the main point is lexical information about individual persons and displaying characters from the collections and funds of Czech memory institutions with the option of expanding and editing this area. The software environment is designed to be effectively integrated into the CastIS architecture of the central register of the mobiliary funds of the NHI. The results of this task shall contribute to an increased knowledge of the mobiliary funds of heritage buildings, have contributed to the knowledge about this important noble family, while at the same time a software environment has been created which is usable not only in the inventory practice of the mobiliary funds administered by the NHI, but also for the general research public. A secondary result of the task is the protection of the artifact through the creation of a digitized model.
