Industrial heritage: What's changing?

Benjamin Fragner

For the past years, it is unquestionably crucial that the historical and artistic significance of industrial heritage in the Czech Republic has been professionally and systematically collected, described, and evaluated on a previously unprecedented scale. It was difficult to get to the extent and meaning behind the constructional interventions in monuments of technological and industrial heritage. The discussions held on industrial buildings, as well as their surveys, are undoubtedly behind the greater vigilance and the better-informed treatment of history. Their values and social contexts are being defined and described. The personal experience gained from the use of transformed buildings is also important.
